MicroStrategy Now Holds 629,376 BTC After Acquiring 430 BTC
Strategy, a Michael Saylor-founded company previously known as MicroStrategy, now holds over 3% of bitcoin’s total supply, as confirmed by an announcement.
- The purchases were said to be made at an average price of $119,666 per BTC.
- The funds for this acquisition came from the proceeds from sales of its 179,687 STRK, 162,670 STRF, and 140,789 STRD preferred stock shares.
Aiming to own 1% of the asset’s total supply two years from now, investment firm Metaplanet bought the bitcoin at around $120,006 each.
- According to CEO Simon Gerovich, his team aims to acquire 30,000 BTC by the end of 2025.
Solana Can Possibly Handle More Transactions Per Second Compare to Visa
Through an on-chain experiment, it was revealed that Solana can handle more than 100,000 TPS, more than 25 times the network’s typical throughput.
- The experiment made Solana do 107,540 TPS on mainnet, surpassing Visa’s 65,000 TPS capability.
- The experiment was done by pseudonymous validator Dr. Cavey PHD, where blocks were filled with “votes, a few normal transactions, and a significant number of ‘no-op’ transactions,” or those that don’t require much computation.
- According to Dr. Cavey PHD, high capacity enables the world’s markets to all be on-chain, urging Solana to be more scalable.
Web3 Wallet Backpack to Publish Proof of Reserves Daily
Assuring its users that their funds are safe, Backpack, a non-custodial wallet with a built-in in-app DEX, will begin publishing its proof of reserves once a day, every day, it announced.
- The audit process will be verified by OtterSec, a blockchain-utilizing auditing project.

Influencer Sentenced to 1+ Year Imprisonment Over ‘Cryptojacking’ Scheme
Known as “CP3O,” crypto influencer Charles O. Parks III pleaded guilty in December 2024 to wire fraud and he initially faced a maximum sentence of 30 years.
- Investigations showed that Parks mined nearly $1 million in cryptocurrency using stolen cloud computing power.
- He will also forfeit $500,000 and a Mercedes-Benz luxury car purchased with proceeds from the scheme.
According to developer Anthropic, Claude Opus 4 and 4.1 have “the ability to end conversations in our consumer chat interfaces.”
